How to Attract Targeted Website Traffic in 10 Ways to your Affiliate Marketing Sites.

Now that you are involved with affiliate marketing, one of the major concerns is how to drive traffic to your site. We are not talking about just any traffic but targeted website traffic.

Following are the top 10 proven ways to drive quality targeted website traffic to your affiliate marketing site and increase your income-generating potential.

But before then, you know you would think that someone who goes into affiliate marketing would have all of the things necessary for him to be a success. He may have the diligence, the needed drive and the perseverance that is needed to understand the in’s and out’s of affiliate marketing. He may have all of the tools that are needed to maintain the business including an interesting and unique website.

However, all of these things will prove to be useless if he is not good at one thing – knowing how to drive the necessary targeted website traffic to his website. His business would sink into a black pit together will all of the fortune, sales and dreams that he thought he could have had if only he knew how to get the traffic to his site.

Getting the right people to see one’s website is quite difficult if he tries to take into consideration the fact that there are rivals who are competing with his business.

The greatness of the Internet as well as affiliate marketing has given rise to the fierce competition that takes place between affiliate marketers each one having his own great product to offer.

How in the world would one website be able to stand out above all the rest? Let’s look at the 10 best ways to drive that much coveted targeted website traffic to your website.

1.) E-mail campaigns.

When you use this method carefully, this form of advertising can easily drive lots of targeted traffic to your affiliate marketing site. This is done by providing highly relevant and valuable information on the body of your message and then offering a link that will bring the recipients to your website.

You can do this in two ways: one is to provide the full content in an e-mail message and then you provide a link to your website or blog that has similar content.

The second way is by giving just a portion of the content, just enough to keep the reader’s attention, and offering the rest on the affiliate site. A linked e-mail signature should be included.

2.) Articles

You should have informative and how-to articles, especially those that are well-written, as they are proven traffic baits for affiliate marketing sites. If you do not know how to write, you can always get some PLR articles and change them around a little bit.

Just do a Google search for PLR articles and you will find lots of information. You can also include links to additional or similar information within the content body that is only able to be read from your site and provide additional links on your signature.

3.) Newsletters and e-zines

People just love information, especially those about topics they are curious about or are involved in. This explains why targeted methods to drive traffic to affiliate marketing sites work best.

You can offer e-zine and e-newsletter subscriptions, making sure that links bring recipients to your site. For your visitors’ convenience, use a separate landing page to handle the subscription process.

4.) Blogs

You can do more than just offer customers your affiliate marketing site. You can use a blog to get in touch with prospective customers and members. Blogs are much more personal and have a lighter tone than most affiliate business sites. They can be a great source of news, tips, information and advice from you to your prospects. Include a link from your blog to your affiliate marketing site.

5.) Social bookmarking sites

These sites are a rich source of targeted traffic that you will be able to drive to your affiliate marketing site. Your market demographics are easier to define so sending out invitations to potential lead and members is much easier.

6.) Discussion forums and boards

If you leave useful and thought-provoking comments on discussion boards and forums, you will encourage other members to react and send you a reply. This will enable you to build a network relationship. Make sure to sign with a link back to your affiliate marketing site. The people who read your comments may begin to build up a certain amount of trust with you.

7.) Guest blogging

If you become a guest blogger, you will be able to attract and drive the other blogs traffic to your affiliate marketing site, If you have a penchant for writing and can offer useful and unique content, the site’s readership will find you interesting enough to follow you to your website. Again, I cannot stress enough the use of PLR articles for useful content.

Allow bookmarks on your web pages. If you have good content, you can drive traffic to your affiliate marketing site by allowing your readers to bookmark specific pages. This will help promote those pages and your website to other people who may be interested in the same subjects. Not only that, the person who bookmarked your page will probably be interested in going back to it now and then.

8.) Host a contest

Upon locating your target market, you can now promote a contest through ads or e-mails. All details will be found on your affiliate marketing website so that you will be able to drive traffic there. Registration must also be performed on one of your landing pages.

Make sure that you offer tempting prized to you visitors so that those who enter the contest will find the prizes useful. If you offer just “junk” as a prize, people will soon get wise to that and will not bother to enter any contests of yours anymore.

9) Freebies!

In order to drive traffic to your affiliate market site, there’s nothing better than a free gift! This is easy to implement and can be relatively inexpensive. Furthermore, you are offering these visitors an incentive to sign up for whatever campaign it is you are promoting. Again, make the free gift something worthwhile that the visitor can use.

10) Add to the List

Please feel free to add one of your effective method that you use to attract targeted traffic to your site or blog on the comment box below.

4 Solid List Building Elements and Affiliate Marketing Leads

October 8, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

How to generate affiliate marketing leads by following four solid list building elements

When it comes to affiliate marketing as an affiliate marketer, you will find one of the key concerns is focusing on building solid leads. Leads come in the form of email addresses, which come with real people behind them who are your potential clients, members and subscribers.

It is much easier to reach a ready market and generate your income when you have a solid list of leads.

  • Are Affiliate Marketing Leads Essential?

Product and service companies spend billions of dollars in advertising costs, yes, that is right, billions. The main purpose why they spend such a huge sum of money is because these companies want to create interest in their product or service, while expanding their market and also increase sales.

As an affiliate marketer this is not your concern, since the cost of advertising is relatively small and paid by the affiliate company already. Your job involves finding a niche market to promote, that will respond positively to you, in order to earn a return income.

This market comes in the form of affiliate marketing leads, unlike the real business world. Whether or not you succeed in affiliate marketing, depends upon the quality of your leads, as well as with the number and type of positive responses they offer. When you hear, ‘the money is on the list’, this refers to the list of leads. You cannot sell, much less earn without maintaining your own list of solid leads.

  • Building Affiliate Marketing Leads

Affiliate marketing can be a bit tricky, but it is not rocket science. It is however, a proven business model. Many affiliates experience considerable success in their various programs of choice. However, specific aspects of affiliate marketing and the building of your lists will determine your success, much like other businesses.

You should consider the following four elements of building a solid list of leads very carefully:

1.) Your Reputation

You will find it does take time to build your affiliate marketing leads, as a new affiliate. All new marketers go through this, since you cannot build a solid number of consumers overnight.

You have to become a recognized entity in this business industry to draw a solid list of affiliate marketing leads. Potential leads may find difficulty in trusting your or doing business with you, without a reputation. Consider choosing between buying from a popular marketer and an unfamiliar presence. You would buy from the person you know before a perfect stranger, right?

It is the same with your affiliate marketing leads. Before they will agree to participate, make a purchase or become a recruit, they need to recognize you as a reliable affiliate or merchant.

2.) High Web Traffic

Another key element which influences your attainment of numerous affiliate marketing leads is the amount of targeted website traffic your website entertains.

High web traffic numbers are beneficial in two ways, it increases your affiliate accounts, while increasing your potential affiliate marketing leads. When you need to increase the traffic to your website, you may want to focus on building strategies or you may want to join a networking service that offers affiliate programs.

3.) The Affiliate Product

Two things influence how well you can build your affiliate marketing leads. One is of course, the value of the product, while the other is how well you understand the product.

The choice of an affiliate product is vital to all affiliates. You will want one that has a proven track record or has the potential to create good sales, as this is much easier to promote, while generating a better income. This makes it easier to build affiliate marketing leads, because your prospects will be more willing to make a response.

In order to attract good leads, you will need a good understanding of what makes your product valuable and attractive. You should be able to explain how and why a product works in your articles and on your website. For instance, with regard to other competitors’ products, this aids you in selling your product in the same market.

4.) The Niche or Target Market

Market saturation is one of the most common concerns of affiliate marketers, which is the point in time when a particular market segment become over flooded with the same or similar services or products. This is more so, especially if it becomes terribly difficult to sell or convince potential consumers to purchase a promotional service or product.

However, you can avoid this scenario by focusing on generating your affiliate marketing leads within specifically targeted segments of a given niche or market.

Make sure you promote and sell products that appeal to a particular group of individuals with a common unmet need where market competition is relatively low, with the right strategies; you will find niche marketing very profitable.

Submitting Your Website to Search Engines

September 25, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

If you have a business which conducts most of its activity over the web, then one of the best ways of promoting your website is to submit your URL to search engines. There is no press release, print or radio ad or anything else which will make it as easy to find your website as this will – although all of the above can be effective and should certainly not be discouraged.

You should be cautious about companies which offer to submit your website to hundreds of search engines automatically; but fail to deliver on this promise. To make sure that your site is submitted to the search engines, the best course of action is to do it yourself or hire someone to do this manually by getting in contact with the search engines and directories directly.

Before submitting your site to the search engines, you need to be sure that your website is ready to receive the visitors you will surely draw. For instance you should not submit your website if it is still under construction.

When you submit your site, give all of the important information about your site, the keywords used and any other relevant information, including the name and contact information of your business.

You should also remember that by submitting your site to search engines – this is no guarantee for a high search engine ranking or lots of traffic. Since there are literally thousands of sites being submitted daily, it can take a while before a human has a look at your website.

Something else you must also do is to make a site map for your site, which is going to make the job easier for the web crawlers used by the search engines easier. Google and other search engines prefer sites which have sitemaps.

There are a lot of companies which offer search engine submission services. You can also do it yourself using software and services that are available all over the internet.

There are thousands of search engines and directory submission companies, which can take care of submitting your site to many search engines and directories. Here are some links for further information on search engines and directories:

Affiliate Marketing Associate Program Commission

September 16, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

If you are looking into ways to increase your sites traffic and revenue then you may want to offer an affiliate marketing associate program commission based incentive or a bonus to the list of your affiliate marketing plan strategy.

Going that extra mile and giving a little more to your customer is definitely one way to stand out from the rest of the crowd as far as competition is concerned. With a unique informational product or service - by offering an affiliate program or bonus, it will be appreciated by those associated with you and it is an ideal way to make your business grow to a great success.

As an affiliate marketer you need to be different as compared to other affiliate marketers and the best way to do this is to offer a bonus of some description for those making a purchase through your affiliate link.

This works particularly well when you are promoting products at the high end of the market which are more often than not quite expensive to buy.

For instance, an extremely well known internet marketer is about to launch his latest and most waited course entitled “How to Get More Traffic to your Website.”  As a recognized guru, this marketer will have a small army of affiliates ready and waiting to send promotional emails to their lists on launch date.

How can you possibly compete with this situation?

  • First, with the well known internet marketer who is offering an affiliate marketing associate program commission to his army of affiliates?
  • And secondly with other smart affiliate marketers who are offering bonus?

It’s quite simple, remember the old saying that “if you can’t beat them – join them”

That is an affiliate business marketing strategy that also needs to be added to your list of marketing ideas.

Here is what you can do:

1.) Take some time to devise a special promotion for those customers who make a purchase by using your link.  This special offer may vary depending on your services and product but you could, for example, offer a private tele-class where you show some of the affiliate’s tips you have picked up.

2.) Another idea is to record an interview with transcribed notes on a subject related to your product or service.  If you have a little spare time on your hands you could even offer one to one coaching, but limits need to be set on this kind of opportunity.

3.) People are always interested in discounts and this is something else you could consider for those making purchases via your link.  If, for example, you are promoting something with a ticket price of $950 for which you will receive $475 in commission, it may be worth your while to offer a $100 dollar or so discount to the customer buying through your link.  Most people love a bargain and knowing they will get a discount will encourage them to buy from you.

4.) Another way is to have your own products and services and the offer an affiliate marketing associate program commission to your clients. Your clients will be sending you traffic to your products and in turn you can offer an upsell or a onetime offer at your thank you page to products that you are affiliated to.

However, there are a few programs that may not approve of such discounts being given so it is always best to carry out your homework and find out if a discount is appropriate by contacting the program manager to ask any questions you may have.

Bear in mind, the more you put into a product you believe in, in terms of effort and time, the better the results will be.  People will notice your hard work and trust that you have faith in the product you are promoting which can only result in an increase in your army of affiliates and sales levels.

Don’t Submit Your Url to the Following Search Engines

August 22, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

Where you need to Submit Your site’s Url instead.

When you build your site you will want to submit your Url to the three leading search engines. Now I do know that some people and some firms will suggest that you do submit to over 1000 search engines.

Probably this is one of the reasons why you will find firms that will charge you a fee to perform this service for you. Do you need to submit your site Url to all the search engines out there?

The simple fact is that you don’t need to submit your site’s Url to most of these other search engines. Of course you are welcome to do what you deem fit for you, but then thinking about the 80/20 rule, below are three reasons why you really don’t need to submit your site’s Url to more than the top four search engines that I’m about to give to you.

  • First reason why not to submit your Url to over 1000 search engines.

Because there are only four leading search engines that really do matter and call the shots as far as search engine world is concerned. Over 99% search volume over the Internet combined is conducted on the following four leading search engines.

  • Second reason why not to submit your Url to over 1000 search engines.

Because the math actually does add up and it’s as simple and uncomplicated as you may think. It’s all logical and easy to understand. Find out how the search engines stack up on this post.

  • Third reason why not to submit your Url to over 1000 search engines.

The final reason to back up my argument why it will be a waste of your time to submit your Url to so many other search engines is because technically speaking, there aren’t as many of those search engines as you may be mislead to think. Here is a list of the top 10 search engines with their respective market share.

Search engines where you need to submit your site’s Url.

List of Affiliate Marketing Directory

Affiliate Marketing Directory.

As an affiliate marketer you need the best affiliate programs to promote to your targeted website traffic. But there is always been a problem.

  1. How do you keep pace with all the new products and services that are released everyday?
  2. How to you make sure that you get paid for your hard work of promoting other peoples product?
  3. How do you simply and easily manage all the products, user names and login from a few central place?
  4. And of course there are other numerous concerns that as an affiliate marketer you might be concerned with.

(We will be discussing those in their respective posts.)

I thought it will be helpful to create a simple affiliate marketing directory that will list only the top 5 affiliate networks that you can use as a reference starting point. This page will especially be beneficial to a new affiliate marketer.

Why would you need to sign up with any of the following networks briefly discussed below?

Because of five main reasons; An affiliate network:

  • Will handle all financial transactions between your site, the merchant and your clients.
  • Will provide the means of payment and at the same time handle the payment process.
  • Will handle any refund requests that might arise after the completion of a transaction.
  • Will provide technical support that may arise from any transactions.
  • Allows easy access and organization of available products for promotion.

Below is an affiliate marketing directory of the leading affiliate networks. Let me also be quick to point out that there are other affiliate networks elsewhere that have potentials that should not be overlooked. This list is only a starting point to your success with affiliate marketing business.

Remember the main benefit of signing up for an affiliate network is to make it easy and simple for you to manage all your products from a few centralized location. To earn a commission and get paid, you still have to work hard at effectively promoting those products you so chose to - That is the key to success.

1.) Clickbank.com
An affiliate network that carries only digital products that are delivered via the internet. Most internet affiliate marketers prefer Clickbank as their first choice, the only disadvantage is that it has a low rate of fraud protection. Learn more about using clickbank to promote products here.

2.) Commission Junction.com
This is the world largest affiliate network that carries both digital and tangible products. If you want to promote any of the products from large 500 fortune companies, then this is the place to go. Currently the disadvantage of using CJ.com is that they have a confusing and difficulty linking structure that takes time to master. Learn more about CJ.com here.

3.) PayDot.Com
An alternative to Clickbank discussed above. The company was started by one of the leading internet markets, Mike Filsaime. Just like Clickbank, you can start to promote the products immediately after you sign up without anyone having to manually approve your request. You can read more about Paydot.com here.

4.) Linkshare.com
Most of the products are service oriented like Voice Over IP companies or web hosting. You have to be manually approved by the respective merchant before you can promote their products, just like Commission Junction above. Learn more about Linkshare.com here.

5.) RegNow.com
If you are looking to promote ebooks, audio and video editing software or some virus programs then there is a high chances that you will find this kind of specific product you want on RegNow.com. Learn more about RegNow.com here

As I alluded earlier on, there are other wonderful affiliate networks out there that you can promote. If you are interested in finding more programs you might as well want to “google” “affiliate network” or “Affiliate Marketing Directory” and see what you come up with.

Conclusion to our post on Affiliate Marketing Directory.

As you go about discovering new products and service to promote, remember, it’s not about quantity, rather try to choose a minimum of quality products and services and then concentrate on promoting them like crazy. That’s what separates wannabe affiliates form the super affiliates. Here is a list of some my best affiliate programs

Affiliate Small Business Plan Part 2

June 8, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

The other day we started this thought provoking discussion about small business plan. We looked at some of the questions that you need to ask yourself as you go about putting together your affiliate small business plan.

Hopefully by now you are on the right track researching and laying down the foundations of your affiliate marketing business.

Today we want to pick off where we left from our previous discussion. Of course if you are lost on what I’m talking about, you can follow this link small business plan: part 1 - it will bring you quick and update with our ongoing discussion.

With regard to affiliate marketing,

It’s just not enough to plan. You need an action plan.

  • You need to get out and get people to visit your site.
  • You need to find the best affiliate programs to recommend to your visitors.
  • You need to get links, write articles, post on your blog, write a page, comment on other blogs, run an Adword campaign, join forums…
  • You need the latest affiliate marketing techniques to incorporate into your marketing strategy.
  • You need to start your own program and recruit other affiliates to work for you.

In other words when you are putting together your affiliate small business plan you will need to include the following three important elements.

Objective - Affiliate Small Business Plan.

Objectives refers to what you are going to accomplish within a given time frame.
It is always recommended that you break down your objective into two broad categories.

Short term objectives. This can be monthly, quarterly, semi – annually or a year. Beyond that you have:

Long term objective. This basically should include a year, three years, 5 years, 10 years and beyond.

The most important thing is that when you, as an affiliate marketer start to jot down and organize your objectives into short and long term basis. Something powerful starts to happen; you start to treat your blog or site as a business, your mind frame shifts into what I can call a success mode.

You stop being distracted by what Google is doing, you stop chasing any other hype, you stop panicking and worrying, you stop being overloaded by all the so called gurus must do techniques to blast your site and all those dreams.

Why? Because, you know what you need, what you are doing, what you what and most important where you are going.

Strategies – Affiliate Small Business Plan.

The next thing you want to do is to come up with the strategies that will help you achieve your long term objectives.

Now a strategy is the long term approach that you take - to achieve your long term affiliate business objectives.

Here is an example of a affiliate small business plan strategy;

Your long term goal is to have your blog/site have a PR rank of 6.
Your strategy is to post 50 unique articles on other websites in 15 months.

Or it can be.

Your long term goal is to achieve an Alexa rank of 10,000.
Your long term strategy is to have 40,000,000 unique visitors in 20 months.

Now remember we are dealing here with affiliate marketing business, so let us keep it simple and neat. There is no need to make your affiliate small business plan too complex and complicated.

Basically ask yourself.

What is it that you want to achieve with your affiliate marketing business. Write down all that comes to mind.

Now ask yourself - how long will it take to realistically achieve (from above) under the prevailing circumstances.

What will you need to do in order to achieve the desired result?

There you go, tow along this line and soon or later you will have your affiliate marketing strategy clearly spelled out in your affiliate small business plan.

Tactics – Affiliate Small Business Plan.

By now you have your objectives and strategies, there is one more thing you need to do. Clearly spell out your tactics. Don’t stop there, religiously unleash them, put them into action.

Tactics is all about action. These are the specific methods, specific sequence, specific schedule or any thing specific that you define and use in achieving your strategy and objectives. For an affiliate marketer some of this tactics can be:

  1. Submit 1 article each week to article directory.
  2. Post 3 Comment on other blogs for the next one month.
  3. Write 1 unique post on my blog/website every other day.
  4. Spend $5 on Google Adword per day.
  5. Read one affiliate marketing ebook every month.

You see where I’m getting at. You specifically specify an action with a time frame attached to it in order to achieve your strategy which in turn is linked to your objective.

Conclusion to affiliate small business plan.

Affiliate marketing business has become very competitive. The good news is that, it’s rapidly changing how businesses are conducting their affairs online.

There are literally hundreds of niche markets opening up with very promising opportunities. But to succeed you have to take your time and think business. As an affiliate marketer the first step to succeed with affiliate marketing is to clearly define out your affiliate small business plan.

Well, we will stop here for now till the next post.

Affiliate Small business Plan - Part 1

June 4, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

Affiliate Small business Plan - Part 1.

You are an affiliate marketer. You will need to develop your small business plan in order to succeed with the affiliate marketing programs that you will be promoting.

Is this you?

  • You are promoting a whole bunch of affiliate programs - countless - across different industries, on one page, one site or one blog?
  • You have no idea how many ebooks, software’s, templates, hosting fee and all kinds of expenses you have spend on your affiliate marketing business.
  • You have no idea where you want your affiliate marketing business to be six months, a year or five years down the line.

The first step you have to take, the most important of them all is not finding the best affiliate programs to promote. It’s not finding the product or service that pays the highest affiliate commission. Neither is it learning the best techniques to convert your leads into to dollars.

Of course it’s important that you learn all this tactics. The most important thing you can do is to have a concrete affiliate small business plan to guide you in your affiliate marketing business.

As an affiliate, what are some of the most important questions - you need to ask yourself to guide you develop an all inclusive affiliate marketing small business plan?

Here is a sample of some of the checklists that you should incorporate into your small business plan.

Ask yourself why you are getting into this – affiliate marketing business. What is it that is making you to be an affiliate marketer? Take your time, think real hard. Meditate and know for sure why you want to do this.

Now most affiliate marketers if you ask them will be shy to admit that they just jumped into the wagon without much thought. Ask a super affiliate and most will tell you that they took their time to plan and chart their course. Interesting enough, they still do, they plan and execute their plans, they don’t aim into the darkness.

What are you current worries? What is it that you fear most? What do you belief in? Do you still think on get rich quick programs? Do you think you can succeed and be a super affiliate? Are you worried you will fail?

List all your concerns, research on them. You can “google” subscribe to ezines from respected internet marketers, buy their ebooks. Find solutions on how to deal with your concerns.

Try to get to the mind set of successful internet affiliate marketers to find solutions to your concerns. Then use them to write your affiliate small business plan. Be careful thought about the materials that you allow yourself to belief on.

How much do you want to invest upfront to enable you set up your affiliate marketing business? How much are your willing to invest in your promotion campaigns? How much will you be willing to invest in learning materials and ebooks to help you acquire useful knowledge?

Include all the expenses you expect into your affiliate small business plan. See how much it is going to cost you on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.
