One Simple Trick on how to Submit to Directories

September 1, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

One simple trick you can use to submit to directories:

Once you have a considerable number of pages on your site, I’d say anywhere from 25 - 35, you will want to start submitting your site to directories. You should be aware that most quality directories carry out an actual human review. It is important to go over your site, check for mistakes like broken links, spellings or missing images so as to avoid refusal of your site from being included in those directories.

  • Here is the simple trick that you can use to submit to directories:

To find directories to submit to, you can go to Google search and type your sites:

“Keyword + directory + submit url” or you can type your “Keyword + directory + add url”

When starting out you will want to get links from directories with good page rank and with good traffic at first and the progress from there. Strongest link has a good list of such directories.

  • 4 point check list before you start to submit to directories

Title: Each directory will have its own guideline on how to write your title. If allowed always include your keywords on the title.

Keywords: Almost all directories will allow you to include a set number of keywords that best describe your site, product or service. Make it a point to include your main keywords. Use any of your keywords toolkit to find the appropriate keywords to include on your keywords section when submitting to directories.

Description: You should vary the description you submit from one directory to another to avoid your directory listing being seen and treated by the search engines as duplicate content.

Write a short compelling description that includes your main keyword. Some directories will allow you to submit a short description of less than 250 characters and another description of less than 500 characters.

Category: Submit to a category that best describes your site for two main reasons:

One; so that your directory submission would be accepted. And two, because a link that comes from within a relevant category that is closely associated with your site content will carry more weight.

New Feature on Google Keyword Tool

July 11, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

I’m sure by now you have heard about the new feature that has been added to Google keyword tool. Previously the tool used to return only little bar graphs on their search results.

With the new feature that has been added, you now get real numbers whenever you conduct a search using the newly redesigned Google keyword tool. Here is a picture snap shot of how the results actually look like.

google-keyword-tool.jpg

So why is there so much excitement in town about this new feature?

1.) For one, with the new added feature, the timing has never been perfect considering that Yahoo Overture tool has finally been put to rest.

2.) Secondly, by including numbers on its result instead of bar graphs, the tool has become an even more useful source of data for conducting basic keywords research.

3.) Finally, it’s still totally free. This of course comes in handy for those affiliate marketers or any other webmaster that is operating under a shoe string budget and recognizes the importance of using keywords in any of their online campaigns.

  • The obvious question then, is now what!

I belief this is going to be a major debate question for the next couple of months as people become more familiar and get adapted to the new added feature on Google keyword tool.

I bet by now most affiliate marketers are already on it trying to test and compare the results generated by Google keyword tool against their own keyword toolkit.

Ken Evoy has published an interesting post entitled how to use Google’s new search volume data. On this post he talks about 10 key points to have in mind as you go about using or testing the new feature.

This post is particularly helpful to those of us who are proud users of SBI and most important to any serious affiliate marketer keen on succeeding with affiliate marketing business.

Internet marketing landscape changes so fast, there is always and will always be new features, new tools, new technologies, new software’s and just about anything new coming out each and every single day.

But success will always be defined by setting up goals and remaining focused, persistent and adopting the 80/20 rule while having a blind eye to all the internet noise, so I think!

10 Winning affiliate marketing tips Part 1

Are you plain fed up downloading, reading, subscribing or listening to all the affiliate marketing tips promising you about the next big secret to take your affiliate marketing business blog or website to a new unimagined level?

I know - it’s frustrating. It makes you feel cheated, conned and taken advantage of.

But you are different. You want to succeed. You have the passion. You have the determination and you want to persevere. Yes, you can and you will make it big in this competitive internet marketing business, just hold on to your dream – there is light at the end of the tunnel. I can see it, can you?

  • If you are on the brink of letting off your grip, will smith has a message for you.
  • Rejuvenate your spirit by refreshing your memory about who are you?

Now having said this, let us now look at 10 affiliate marketing tips to avoid.

1.) Procrastination.

Is this you?

  1. In the next 3 hour I will be able to upload a new page to my site!
  2. Tomorrow I will write and distribute 2 articles to Ezine articles directory.
  3. I will sign up with 5 of the leading affiliate marketing forums next week.
  4. Next month I will outsource 300 directory submissions for my website or blogs.

But it never happens!

Procrastination – the habit of putting off tasks and activities for a future time is the number one reason why most affiliate marketers fail. You need to put together you affiliate marketing plan and follow it religiously. There I just told you! The number one affiliate marketing tips that afflicts even the super affiliates.

2.) Lack of Ambition.

Coming second place on our list of affiliate marketing tips to avoid is the lack of ambition on the part of an affiliate marketer.

One big fat lie, misconception and misinformation that I see and have refused to buy is that one should choose a niche that is less competitive. The reasoning and they are right is that a competitive niche like say affiliate marketing is too broad and too competitive to win over.

How many times have you bought or listened to an internet guru telling you “the can and can’t do” of internet business while they themselves keep doing it!

My way of thinking is simple. If they can – then I can too.

Of course it might take time, effort and a lot of work and focus to achieve that goal, but the big point here is that if you believe in yourself, know what you are getting your self into and posses the undying spirit and will to go-get-it, then let no one kill your ambition.

3.) Perfectionist.

Third on our list of affiliate marketing tips to avoid is the act of being a perfectionist. When you get started with your affiliate marketing business, most likely you spend a whole lot of time trying to tweak the look and feel of your website or blog. You want your site to look perfect. You want it to look pretty. You want it to look attractive.

Stop wasting your time. Start writing informative useful content about your niche, product and service that you are promoting or develop relationships with your visitors, affiliate programs and other related sites.

That is what is going to make you succeed with your affiliate marketing business.

Take a moment and visit some of the leading websites in your niche and try to figure out what is it that makes them successful? I’m sure most have simple designs, true to what is common to the top 500 in Alexa ranking.

4.) Impromptu Buying

Forth on the list of affiliate marketing tips to avoid is the habit of impromptu buying. This one can get pretty ugly. It’s addictive if not checked. It paralyzes.

Are you what others have referred as “the money is in the list”?

Our fourth affiliate marketing tips to avoid will contract with the fifth. It calls upon you to exercise due diligence and be able to prioritize what is it that is most important to you at each level of your affiliate marketing business.

Here is the problem.

New software’s and tools are released to the market every now and then. New affiliate marketing reports and ebooks become available each and every day. New promotional materials arrive on your mailbox from lists you have subscribed to each day.

The simple truth is that you don’t need all the material coming through.

Choose what you buy carefully.

Emotions can run high. Instant gratification will try to have its way. But as a smart affiliate marketer you must take control and choose wisely.

5.) Too stingy.

Fifth on this list of affiliate marketing tips to avoid is being too stingy.

As I mentioned earlier tip 4 and 5 tend to contract each other.

The focus therefore should be balance. You should balance between being too stingy on one hand and wasting your money on the other one.

When starting out there is always the upfront costs that you must meet, for instance you need web hosting, auto responders, your domain name and the like.

On the other hand there are also other expenses that you necessary don’t need them but will play a big role in getting you up and running quick. For instance you might need to carry out a pay per click campaign, you might want to outsource article writing in order to free up your time and the list goes on.

overloaded-content.jpg The trick here is that some affiliate marketers become too tight and never want to spend or reinvest any of their money for fear of failing and never going to be able to recover their invested cash.

This is a terrible mistake to make, it has won it’s place on our list of 10 affiliate marketing tips to avoid especially now that affiliate marketing business has become extremely competitive.

Once you choose your best affiliate programs, the next logical step then is to figure out effective ways on how you are going to promote them.

There is no true - totally free way to promote. I will explain

For instance if you need “free search engine organic traffic” your best bet is to research, discover and target specific keywords. Now if you have tried to use the free keywords tools, you know how problematic that will be.

In other words to derive free search engine traffic you first have to invest on an effective search keywords toolkit that will enable you to target keywords that will drive free organic traffic.

If you want to use Adword, you will probably have to buy an authoritative ebook to teach you how to effectively use Adword campaign in a smart way.

I think you see the picture, you cannot afford to be too stingy within affiliate marketing business model and expect to become successful.

We will stop here for today, tomorrow we will finish off with the rest of the 5 remaining affiliate marketing tips to avoid in order for you to become the next super affiliate marketer.

How to Find Top Paying Keywords

June 19, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

Let us start off this conversation and look into two ways you can use to find the top paying keywords to use in your affiliate marketing promotions.

Now of course you do know that keyword research is not as complicated as most people have made it to sound. As a matter of fact by the end of this post you can learn the right way to focus and start to mine and use the right set of top paying keywords to outperform your competitors who are probably chasing the hype and being mislead into thinking that mastering keyword research is beyond their scope and understanding.

Now let us look into two major ways you can use to discover popular keywords that will drive affiliate commissions into your pocket easily and with minimal effort.

Let me also point out that the two methods that I am going to discuss here do not involve the use of paid advertisement. In other words our aim is to look into ways you can discover and use keywords that will enable you to drive organic search engine traffic into your website.

I think part of notion that keyword research is a complicated affair derives from the fact that affiliate marketing business starts to get way out of hand and complicated when any newbie affiliate marketer starts to blindly use paid per click advertisement as a the sole source of traffic to their affiliate blogs or website.

Keyword research - First method.

The first method of keyword research is pretty forward. I will discuss it briefly, highlight the main key point and if you feel you want to learn more about it, I will give you a link where you can download the full report. Here we go.

When you want to write a product review, promote a new product or recommend a service, one powerful thing you should do is to go to the market place and find out what customers and buyers are talking about. You want to start you keyword research by being at the central center stage where all the activities are taking place.

We all do this in the off line world. When you want to shop for grocery, what do you do? Right - you go to a grocery store. When you want to fix your car, you go to the garage shop. When you want to waste time, you go to the mall. You see the picture, the concept is simple, you need to identify not just the keywords but the “top paying keywords” to use.

You are a smart affiliate marketer. Your objective therefore should be to identify top paying keywords that will enable you to achieve the maximum profit using the least minimum effort possible. You purpose is to visit these transparent market places with the sole purpose of discovering two main things.

  • First, you want to discover products or services that are selling. This is what I will call top paying keywords, these are the money generating keywords.
  • Two, you want to identify products and services that are closely related to your niche and build onto each other. In other words they either compliment or supplement each other.

Now I will hate to leave you hanging there, so for a meager $29 download the full report on how you can go about to discover the top paying keywords in your respective affiliate marketing niche.

Keyword research – Method two.

In every market, in every niche there is always this special customer. Any internet marketer who is able to attract this kind of visitor can be able to earn the maximum profit with the least minimum effort on their part.

With this method of keyword research, your aim is not to make the same mistake that most people make – Targeting the main keywords with the most traffic which unfortunately every other Tom and Mary are all using in their campaign.

Rather your aim is to target a desperate buyer using top paying keywords that the desperate buyers are typing into the search engine forms to find a solution to their problem. In most cases, these are the kind of visitors who are most likely to buy a product or service from your affiliate link. I may as well say, it’s where the money is!

You can read the full report of over 90 pages on how exactly to go about discovering desperate buyers in your niche, the product or service you want to promote and coming up with the top paying keywords to incorporate into your campaign to outsmart your competition.

As I wind up our discussion today about these two methods of keyword research that you can use to come up with a list of top paying keywords let me also point out that both of these methods incorporate the use of what has come to be known as reverse engineering to gauge and measure demand, competition and techniques that other internet marketers in your niche are using to stash their bank accounts with fat affiliate commissions.

Reverse engineering is a powerful strategy that I believe any serious affiliate marketer should incorporate to optimize their promotional campaign, improve their landing page or increase their conversation rate using only your top paying keywords that are relevant to your niche.

what are keywords

June 19, 2008 by Joseph · Leave a Comment

Keywords - You have heard about them, but for now take a moment and think:

  • What are keywords?
  • Do you need them as an affiliate marketer?
  • Is it really necessary to include Meta keywords into your website?
  • How do you incorporate Meta keywords into your Wordpress blogs?

You have heard it time and gain that to succeed you will be better off if you train yourself to aim and shoot, aim and shoot…as opposed to aim then wait, aim then wait…

  • But the “aim” here, what is it?
  • Does it refer to content?
  • Does it refer to products or services?
  • Maybe it means people, visitors to your affiliate marketing blogs!
  • Perhaps it refers to the top paying keywords, or the most popular keywords!

Of course you do know that before you type something, before you upload and publish your page, before you write an article, before you do bum marketing, you must know which exact keywords you are going to use.

  1. You want to find the exact phrase,
  2. You want to find the exact keyword,
  3. You want to find related keywords,

That you are going to use, if at all you want to get to the right people or rank high with the search engines. The big challenge then, that we need to grasp is – so really what are keywords and how can you use them for the advantage of your affiliate marketing business?

For the following two weeks or so I welcome you to join us in our affiliate marketing help blog as we dive in to this heated discussion where we will explore and really dwell on this basic question – what are keywords and how we can make proper use of them in promoting the best affiliate programs.

We will also have look at the available software that can help you identify the most profitable keywords to use in promoting your best affiliate programs.
